Horses and Honey Sweetness

Do you remember this poem?  As little girls my sister and I used to sing it out gleefully to my boy cousins:

“What are little boys made of?

What are little boys made of?

Slugs and snails and puppy dog tails.”

NOT – well certainly sometimes but not all of the time.  My boys and all boys are in fact very sweet, loving and endearing and they showed me this side in full colour recently when we went to explore a new Provincial Park and found these lovely horses waiting to be fed.  They boys spent an hour collecting grass and feeding these wonderful beasts.  As confidence grew they got in close for petting the nose and scratching the ears.  They have asked me everyday since when we can go back and we will soon.

See the joy in those little faces?

  1. You should take them to Spruce Meadows. You can go in the barns and pet the horses. There is a playground there and a bit of land to hike. And a pond with some information stands. I think you guys would love it.
